The Volcano

Somewhere near the equator of this planet, known as the Dead Pan, a major eruption has occurred off in the distance. A somewhat large, lone, and distressed organism takes note, as it stands in a pool of water, the little of it that there is. This eruption should be followed by a volcanic winter, dropping the temperature even more, on an already cold, desolate plateau.
